types of fabrics

Hmmm...maybe I'll do something with fabrics. See which kind can absorb the most, hold the most weight, the stretchiest, whatever. It's kind of interesting about how many kinds of fabrics there are.

Cotton is a from a natural fiber that's used in a variety of clothing and furnishings (home). It's easily washed and dry cleaned. Cotton's a strong fabric that's absorbent, but is easy to wrinkle, so cotton and polyester blends are popular!

Polyester is also strong and durable. It dries very quickly and can only be washable or dry clean only. Often used as an blend with all other different fabrics so it can lend wrinkle resistance. It may not be the easiest fabric to remove stains from though. Polyester is a synthetic type of fabric!

Nylon is strong and weighs little. It's easy to wash and take care of. Since it's good at resisting and absorbing moisture, it dries quickly. Most often found in swinsuits. Nylon is a synthetic fabric.

Linen is a also from a natural fiber that's very strong and comfortable. It can be either hand washed or dry cleaned only. Linen is most often used for curtains and tablecloths. It's also a popular choice for clothing!

Acrylic cloth is a synthetic (or sometimes manufactured) fiber that's soft and and light. It dries very easily and can be machine washable. They are popular because of they can still keep their shape and texture after washing. But, there can be a lot of static 'clinging' afterwards.

Rayon is both a soft and comfortable fabric that can absorb a lot and doesn't have a lot of static problems. It has problems with shrinking though.

Acetate is a synthetic and manufactured fiber that has a silky appearance. It dries easily and can resists absorbing moisture. Most acetate fabrics usually needs to be dry cleaned for 'perfection'. Acetate is used in clothing and home furnishings.

Rainbow Prisms

I gotta choose a science project by tomorrow. It's kinda like those science fair ones, except we actually don't have to enter it, but you can. I reaallyy can't find a nice one to do. Googled science fair projects, but those didn't work. I need a project that could have manipulated variables and stuff. So this morning, our teacher took some books from the school library that had to do with sciency stuff. I found, in a kiddy book, some of those awesome experiments that you always wanted to do. You know, the volcano aka baking soda and vinegar, and this soap bubble one. But, I wanted to do something with a prism. Not the geometry one (cuz I'm really sick of geom), but those rainbow making ones.

I always wanted one of these, so this is an excuse. Who wouldn't want to hang one of these by your window and make their room all rainbowy...at least for girls. Guy rooms are too messy....no offense ^^

schoollllllll

Hahaha....I'm really horrible at updating since I always find a reason to NOT do something. Well, school started and i got a C+ at my first math quiz. shhhhhh.....you accually didn't see that. My other 1st tests and stuff were perfect, states and capital tests. Studied my ...head off. Anyways, I was really annoyed at the buses like a couple days ago. I had a perfect stop, but...they changed the whole bus route. Hahaha...funny memory. So, that afternoon, before I actually knew which bus I was on, me and this other dude, got on the wrong bus and had to ask the bus driver to drive us back to fremdish. I stayed up that night to email the principle (not my idea...long story. technically, it was my parents idea) but I swear...they never check their email. Well, she DID email back once. Guess what, to ask me what my name was. Oops...
